Smeda to focus gems & jewellery sector: CEO

Yousaf Nasim Khokar, Chief Executive Officer, Small and Medium Development Authority (SMEDA), has said that his organization is working for the development of small and domestic industries as these units play an important role in the development of any country. While talking to a delegation of Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan and Lahore Division Sarafa and Jewellers Association, led by Muhammad Ahmad, Chairman Regional Standing Committee on Gems and Jewellery of the Pakistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, he announced that Smeda has decided to focus afresh gems and jewellery sector. However, the real representatives of this sector will have to shoulder the efforts of Smeda.

GAPC-Pakistan-BSF to train jewellers

LAHORE: A delegation of the Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan, headed by its President, Muhammad Ahmad, held meeting with the SME Business Support Fund to discuss business relations on April 7, 2011.
The meeting started with the introduction of both the teams. Muhammad Ahmad, the GAPC-Pakistan President gave an overview of their work and efforts already done for the gems and jewellery sector.
New business plan for gems and jewellery sector

The first introductory meeting of FPCCI Regional Standing Committee on Gems and Jewellery held on February 25, 2011, started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Muhammad Ahmad, Chairman of the Committee, welcomed all the participants. All members briefly introduced themselves. The Chairman opened the house for suggestions and proposals from members to solve the issues relating to gems and jewellery industry.
TDAP-GAPC export-orientation workshop commences

LAHORE: Ms Yasmeen Kuraishi, Director, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, (TDAP) has said that to bring the gems and jewellery sector at par with the international standards, a comprehensive policy is needed. For the achievement of this objective, TDAP has been working on various projects in collaboration with the people attached with this sector.

LAHORE, (PR): Pakistan gems and jewellery sector is facing a serious crisis at the international level. Keeping in view this fact there is an urgent need to develop Pakistani gems and jewellery sector on modern lines.
